Staffordshire Women's Aid provide support to women and children who have suffered the effects of domestic violence. Services include a 24 hour helpline, supported refuge accommodation, an holistic outreach and resettlement service including support in rurally isolated areas, support throughout court processes if applicable and a comprehensive children's service. The group’s aim is to provide group work in their own premises rather than having to hire rooms where they cannot ensure confidentiality and safety.

Dickie Chester-James, Chief Executive of Staffordshire Women's Aid explains:
"We are delighted Staffordshire Women's Aid has been awarded a Kerrygold Community Award. We believe that ours is a very worthwhile cause and are grateful to Kerrygold and to everyone that voted for us. Domestic violence is a pertinent issue affecting so many women, so all the votes and messages of support have been so very much appreciated. Staffordshire Women's Aid is a member of Women’s Aid Federation of England which works to end violence against women and children, and supports over 500 domestic and sexual violence services across the country."

With the help of the Kerrygold Community Awards cash prize, Staffordshire Women’s Aid would like to work on furnishing their centre. Dickie goes on to explain: “the win couldn’t have come at a better time, the centre only opened a few months ago and we are keen to make it warm and welcoming for the women and children we support.”
