Now in its eighth year, the St Barnabas Community Fete is a non-religious, participatory, free and not-for-profit event organised entirely by local people to:
# Bring residents of all ages, faiths & races together for an afternoon of family fun & entertainment to celebrate the good things in the neighbourhood.
# Draw attention to local issues in areas such as education, health, crime and the environment.
# Encourage volunteering & community action, through partnership with organisations such as Age Concern, Tower Hamlets Local Area Partnership and the LBTH Youth Parliament.
The fete aims to break down barriers between diverse social groups, promoting trust between people of different faiths, ages and ethnic origins, and works for the long-term benefit of the community.
Around a live stage on which local people perform alongside big name acts, we build an information marketplace for community groups, plus a programme of participatory activities for people of all ages.

Because it reaches out to the local and diverse community, it adapts, changes and grows (a bit) each year and seeks to engage all ages, faiths and none in a very positive way that raises the spirit. It also fosters young musical talent blended with some cracking headline bands.
This year it needs all the help it can get as funding is tighter than ever.
I've lived in this community for a year now and i've really enjoyed it. Now i want to give something back and supporting this event which is for the community is one way in which i can do that.
I live on the other side of London, but know people in the East. As a family we come to the St Barnabas Fete every year to share in the wonderful atmosphere.
The people of Tower Hamlets are lucky to have such a spirit in their community
This is a real community project which I have supported in the passed
St. Barnabas Community Fete is such a great way of pulling everyone in the community together, no matter who they are, it is such an amazing day and it would be brilliant if they got the funding to make it even better!!!
I have a 2 year old Grandson who lives in Bow
