The Fields at the rear of our school grounds would provide the perfect environment for a construction of a Log cabin and three Mongolian Yurts (these are self contained structures which could provide sleeping accommodation for up to 20 people). The idea would be to teach local community groups about the importance of conservation from first hand experience. There would be no running water at the site itself, this would have to be carried from a tap on the school grounds. Toilets would be basic and work on a composting principle. The idea being that all activities run on the site would be done within the backdrop of protecting the environment as much as possible so that the erosive influence of human activity is understood and managed more effectively. The Possible activities on the site could include, green woodwork, bush craft, archery, forest school and early settlers experience. They would be run by a qualified and experienced forest school leader. Costs to groups would be kept to a minimum as it would be self catering by the nature of the experience and heating and lighting costs would be low too.
This sort of project could be available for use within 3 months of the proposal and be effective to provide experiences for family learning, school residential, adult education, corporate days, school day trips to name a few. The project would be self funding once the initial cost of set up has been met.

I like it because it would help to make more people aware of the practicalities of living from the land, and teach essential skills which are dying out.
Many people especially children get so few chacges to engage with the outdoors and get back to nature. This sounds practical and fun!
conservation is very important for the future of people
I think this sounds like a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to learn to appreciate Mother Earth and all she provides for us. Many city children just don't know these days about the natural world so much. Having respect for and looking after our planet is vital. But definitely can be fun too, and this project sounds like something I'd love to do even!
