Penistone FM is a Community Radio Station in South Yorkshire.
We have been broadcasting for just over a year and are situated right in the heart of our Town.
We didn’t take setting up a Community Radio Station lightly. Before we started we asked hundreds of residents what kind of things they wanted to hear. Our town keeps itself really busy and there’s always something going on.
People told us they wanted their local radio station to keep the town informed, so nobody misses an event, particularly the harder to reach members of the community. Penistone Fm reaches everyone.
What makes our radio station even more special is that we are ‘Non for Profit’ and run by volunteers so, not only have we got literally loads of people from our town involved in running the station we are keeping everyone bang up to date with everything that’s going on.
Anything that happens in our town we promote – organisers give us the details and we do the rest. Now no one in Penistone misses out.
Anyone is welcome at Penistone FM. Our fifty volunteers range from aged 17 to 65. Children from the local school come to present shows and we are looking into working with people with disabilities. We teach valuable skills, not just technical ones. We’ve given many volunteers’ new found confidence.
Everyone works really hard to keep our station on air. We’ve made a real difference to the lives of many local residents by keeping our Community listening… together.

i listen to penistone fm all the time in the car and they always play the songs that i ask for. so that is why i think penistone fm should the £1000 and why everyone else should vote for them.
Penistones very own radio station is a fine establishment. I have never come across an fm station with such diverse music, presenters and shows. Thanks you Penistone Fm for filling so many of my days with entertainment.

A fantastic radio station, it has been responsible for bringing the whole community of penistone and its surrounding towns and villages together for the first time in many years. We are thankful for all the people involved. i only wish i could do more than buy a packet of butter!
