In Bloom

We have three large landscape areas on the main street that goes through our village, which have very little or nothing growing in them. We want to plant them up with some perennials and herbaceous shrubs to inject a fusion of all year round cheerfulness and colour. By planting these beds with a wonderful visual display we hope to improve the areas and raise residents’ spirits by bringing smiles to their face whilst viewing the landscaped areas. Our project will entail preparing the land, improving the soil, laying down weed suppressant membrane, planting up some colourful perennials & herbaceous shrubs and covering the rest of the membrane with slate or bark chippings. We also want to purchase two seats made from recyclable materials to offer people the opportunity to sit back, take a break and look at the views.

This project has a fantastic group of resident volunteers working to improve the area for the benefit of all. In their first year they have acheived so much and with some funding, could accomplish so much more. I beleive this kind of boost could help raise community spirit and inspire more to become involved in what was once a thriving mining area which now struggles with high deprivation and low regeneration.

In the present climate this project should bring some pleasure to both young and elderly, active or disabled and show visitors what a true community spirit is alive in your area.
May your efforts be rewarded.

its a project that instills pride in what the area looks like to the people of the area. That can be enjoyed by all.
